Candle - Color B with Orange and Yellow for the flame w/3.5mm Crochet Hook (> 1 g/2 yds)

R1: MC, sc 6 (6)

Continue to sc in the round til you reach your desired length. Leave a 6”-8” tail for sewing.

For the flame:

  1. Take 4” of Orange and Yellow yarn and knot it in the middle twice.
  2. Fold the yarn in half, with the knot at the bottom.
  3. Using your Tapestry/Yarn Needle, thread the yarn through the opening of the candle, pulling through the middle of the MC of R1.
  4. Take your Pet/Slicker Brush and brush out the flame.
  5. Trim any extra yarn and shape the flame to your liking.

Sew the candle to the top of the cake.

Optional: Add a face to the front of your cake if you would like. I used 8mm safety eye and embroidery floss to create the face.

R11: [sc 9, inc] x 6 (66)

R12: sc 5, inc, [sc 10, inc] x 5, sc 5 (72)

Cut off about a 12-18” tail. Weave in your ends to R9. You will use the leftover yarn to sew the cake to the plate.

Wrong Side vs. Right Side

Assembling

  • After attaching your Candle, Piping, and Face (optional), fill your cake with poly-fil stuffing.
  • The BL of R9 of the Plate is the “ridge” and that is considered the WS of the Plate.
  • Using the tail left over from the Plate, stitch the cake to the RS of the plate (adding any extra poly-fil as you go).
  • Using the BL of R9 as a guide, stitch on the inside of the ridge in a circle.
  • Once the Cake is sewn to the Plate, weave in ends.
