Hello!
My name is Amanda, and I am the Owner of Hook'em Creations. I am a Navy Spouse. So, we move whenever and wherever the Navy tells us. We are currently stationed in the Pacific Northwest in the United States of America. However, my roots are from the Midwest (Indiana and Ohio).
I began knitting at the age of 7 and added crochet at age 11. I competed in 4-H, where I showcased my completed works and new designs. Most of my work was in the form of gifts for friends and family.
I knitted and crocheted all through college as a way to relieve stress. But was put to the side when I started working multiple full-time jobs.
A few months after marrying my husband in 2017, we learned I was pregnant with our first son (David). At that same time, we moved to my husband's first duty station in South Carolina. I didn't know anyone there, and I was unable to find a job right away. So, I did what any lonely and depressed pregnant woman would do in this particular predicament. I bought yarn and my husband and I adopted our first dog (Remus).
I became a stay-at-home mom in 2018 and I stayed ever since. Crocheting and knitting items for my son and other family members. Excited about my work, I began sharing what I made/created on my personal social media and people began asking for custom orders.
So, in April of 2019, I began Hook'em Creations. In the beginning, I did primarily custom orders and markets. Due to my husband's sea rotation schedule and COVID, I put an end to custom orders and markets in 2022. By then, we added another son (Leo) and dog (Rodey) to our family.
In 2023, I switched gears from custom orders and ready-to-sell creations to blogging, YouTube, and pattern writing.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking, photography, riding horses, and spending as much time as I can with my family.
