2023 RECAP/2024 RESTART

I'm back! The fact that it has taken me almost a month to write this blog says how crazy busy life has been for me. I didn't post much anything in December because my focus was on creating gifts for family/friends, preparing my house so my kids and I could go visit my husband and our families in Chicago, and then returning home on New Year's Eve. So, yeah. I didn't post any new videos on my YouTube Channel other than a few shorts here and there. But I did make a few posts over on my Facebook Page and IG. Just to keep things going.

2023 RECAP

Looking back at 2023, it was a year of re-discovery and a break from custom orders. However, I did do a couple custom orders for friends and family and that was it. I focused primarily on myself. Which I needed.

2023 was probably the first time in a LONG time I sat down and knitted and crocheted for myself. And I am not going to lie. It felt very strange to do that. But I am glad to have taken the year to refocus and create for myself.

2024 Restart

After returning from my trip to Chicago, I was ready to start with a recap of my year and tell you everything I planned for 2024. Then the New Year rang in. My kids got sick within the first week of our return. School schedules and routines went out the window. Our furnace was on the fritz right as the cold snap traveled through the country. Thankfully we got it working just in time for the freezing temperatures. But we ended up with frozen pipes and my laundry room was flooded. 2024 started off on the wrong foot.

So, I am restarting 2024 and refocusing myself. Hence why I crocheted myself a Restart Button (Pattern Coming Soon) 😅🤣

To start things off, I changed my website. I switched over from Shopify to Blogger for a few reasons. One is the cost. Shopify is a great e-commerce for small businesses. Unfortunately, I don't make enough to keep the account open. But I wanted to continue to write blogs. So, I switched over to Blogger and kept my domain. I am hoping to get enough of a following/visits to my website to monetize it. But we'll see how that goes.

If you are looking to buy my patterns you can find them on my Ravelry Store. I know some people prefer to buy patterns directly from the designer through their website. This is only temporary. I will get them on my website soon again.

I don't have any plans on how many items I am going to make, blogs I am going to post, patterns I am going to release, and videos I will make for my channel. I don't have any goals in those regards. I'm just going to create, write, and share. That's it!

My focus for 2024 is to Enjoy and Share the Process. Some of the ways I will be sharing my process are through patterns, vlogs/blogs, and social media. As well as sharing some tips and tricks along the way.

There is one project I have planned for this year. And it's in collaboration with my mom and sister who are also crocheters.

My 95-year-old grandmother expressed to my mom how she really liked one of the blankets she made during one of her visits to see my parents. Unfortunately, the blanket Grandma really liked was made for my brother. He was unable to take home with him to Texas the year it was gifted to him. So, my mom reached out to my sister and me and asked if we would help her make a blanket for Grandma. Of course, we said yes.

We are making a PINK Farmhouse Granny Square Blanket for Grandma. And thankfully my mom is taking point on this project. She's done all the math, the color and yarn selection, the pattern, etc. All my sister and I have to do is buy the yarn and make the granny squares. So stay tuned for that project update.

I'm trying not to plan too much for 2024 because my husband is in the military and things can change in a snap of a finger.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!
