2026: I'm Back!

I am back!

This is my first blog and full video since March of 2024. I’ve posted a few shorts or reels since then, but nothing that says, “Here is what I’m working on.” Or, “I have learned this; allow me to share it with you.”

Over the last year and a half, I have undergone significant life changes. Those life changes affected my mental and physical health to the point that I lost my motivation to work on my crafting projects. Which is kind of ironic in a way, because the last full video I released was ‘How to Get Your Crafting Mojo Back.’ And I had to practice what I preached, even if it meant taking almost two years off from making content.

However, I have not been completely off the grid. I have been posting here and there over on my IG, Facebook, and Threads (The Facebook and Threads accounts are connected to my IG account. So whatever I post on IG, it automatically goes to those accounts). I have received messages from people who have had questions about patterns and videos I have released. Some of you had some awesome questions, and I hope my advice and guidance helped you complete your project.

Looking forward, I will be making a few changes to my social media accounts. They’re not going away, but there will be some redirection. In the past, I was trying to do too much all at once (Online sales, pattern writing, blogging, markets, tutorial videos, etc.), and I reached burnout. So I’m scaling back a little bit. The focus will be on tutorial videos, blogging, and pattern writing. Sales will be taking a back seat for right now. This doesn’t mean I won’t be adding new patterns on Ravelry for sale. It means it won’t be my main focus. The same with local markets. It’s not the main focus, however If I have some inventory, then I will do a market. And if I do do a market, be sure to follow me on IG, Facebook, and Threads to see when and where it’s all happening.

The reason behind the redirection of my social media accounts and this channel is that the more you do something (it can be crafts, sports, whatever), the more you grow and learn. And since starting this YouTube journey, I have learned a few things:

  1. No one likes sales pitches in tutorial videos - In the beginning, I was focused on making sales and bringing people to my website. So, I added sales pitches in my tutorial videos. Those didn’t go well. This year, I will be going through all my tutorial videos and will remake any that have a sales pitch. I want this channel to be a place of learning. Now, the pattern videos where I direct you to my Ravelry or website are staying. I am not making any changes to those videos.
  2. To create better videos  - Yes, I am still recording with the cameras on my phone and computer. I don’t have the means to acquire really nice, 4K-quality cameras at this time. Which is okay, because if there is one thing I have learned over time, it’s to work with what you have. So I have.
  3. Utilizing the lessons and skills obtained from college - Back in my freshman year of college, I, along with every student at the university, had to take this entry-level communications class. Essentially, it was a speech 101 class. In that class, they taught us not only how to do presentations but how to write speeches! And dummy me did not utilize one thing from that class at the beginning of this channel. I sounded inexperienced and unsure of myself in those videos,
and I don’t want that to be the image of this channel. The truth is, I have been knitting and crocheting since I was a little girl. I did the 4-H county fair competitions. I have made mistakes over the years and learned from them. So, why not share those moments?

To wrap this up, I don’t really have goals for 2026, as far as projects go, except to go through my collection of WIP’s and see what I can finish. I do have some new projects in mind. A few of them are for a family member, which I will share in a future video and blog. The other projects are for my husband and kids. For my husband, all the Christmas gifts I started and never finished (oops). And my kids, for their endless demands for ‘dragon stuffies’ (amigurumi).

So without further ado, let’s get crafting.

It’s great to be back.
